Contact form

Contact form adds a heading, a short text and Shopify’s contact form to any page. Messages go to your store’s contact email, the same as the contact page’s.

It is a separate section from the one on the Contact page template, which has its own layout and contact details panel. Use this one to put a form somewhere else: under a FAQ, on a store locations page, or at the end of an about page. The FAQ and contact-and-stores page templates already include it.

It can’t be placed in the header or footer groups.

Settings

  • Heading. Default: Get in touch.
  • Text. Rich text above the form. Default: Questions about an order, sizing or care? Send us a message and we will reply by email.
  • Show phone field. Adds an optional phone number field. Default: off.
  • Button label. Default: Send message. Left empty, the button reads “Send message” in the shopper’s language.
  • Color scheme. Default: scheme-1.

Spacing

  • Top padding / Bottom padding. Range: 0 to 300 px in 5 px steps. Default: 60 px each.

The form

The form asks for a name, an email address and a message, plus a phone number when Show phone field is on. The email address and the message are required. Name and email sit side by side where the form is wide enough, and stack on phones. The fields are the same ones the Contact page uses, so every contact form in the store looks alike.

The form sits in the same column as a page’s title and body text, so under the Main page section it lines up with them. If a submission is turned away, the reason shows under the email field, with the email and message the shopper typed kept in place. After sending, the shopper sees a confirmation in place of the form. A hidden field turns away most spam bots without asking shoppers to solve a puzzle.

More than one contact form on a page works: each shows its own confirmation or error, not the other’s.

Tips

  • Say when you reply. “We answer within one working day” in the text sets an expectation and saves a follow-up message.
  • Only ask for a phone number if you will call. Every extra field costs some submissions.
  • Send yourself a test message after publishing, and check that it arrives in your store’s inbox.
