Marquee
Marquee scrolls a line of short text or logos continuously across the page. It works as a band of brand statements between sections, or as a strip of press and partner logos.
It can’t be placed in the header or footer groups. Two presets are available when you add it: Marquee, with three text items, and Logo marquee, with five logos at slow speed.
Settings
- Speed. Slow, Medium (default) or Fast.
- Space between items. Compact, Standard (default) or Spacious.
- Direction. Toward the reading start (default) or Toward the reading end. On a left-to-right language the first moves the items to the left; on a right-to-left language it moves them to the right.
- Pause on hover. Stops the motion while the pointer rests on it. Default: on.
- Color scheme. Default: scheme-1.
Spacing
- Top padding / Bottom padding. Range: 0 to 300 px in 5 px steps. Default: 40 px each.
Blocks
Mix the two block types in any order.
Text
- Text. One line of text, with bold, italic and links available. Default:
Add your text.
Logo
- Logo. The logo image. Its alt text, set in Content > Files, is what names the logo for screen readers, so fill it in.
- Link. Optional. Makes the logo a link.
Motion and accessibility
A pause button sits beside the marquee, so shoppers can always stop it. For shoppers who ask their device for reduced motion, nothing moves: the items show once, wrapped onto as many lines as they need.
Tips
- Keep each text item to a few words. A marquee is read in passing. A sentence scrolls away before anyone finishes it.
- Use logos of a similar weight. A mix of heavy and delicate marks makes the strip look uneven even at the same size. Transparent PNG or SVG files on the section’s background look cleanest.
- Slow suits logos, Medium suits text. Logos need a moment to be recognized; short words can move faster.
