Product cards
The Product cards category in Theme settings controls the appearance of every product card across your storefront — in collection grids, search results, recommended products, and the home page.
Settings
- Image ratio — The aspect ratio of the product image area on every product card. Choose from:
- Adapt to image — Each card uses the natural aspect ratio of its featured product image. Cards in the same grid will have varying heights.
- Portrait (3:4) — Tall product images. Best for fashion and apparel.
- Square (1:1) — Equal width and height. Default. Works for any product type.
- Landscape (4:3) — Wide product images. Best for furniture, accessories shot on a side.
Default: Square (1:1).
Where this setting applies
The Image ratio is used in every product grid in the theme:
- New arrivals (home page).
- Featured product cards.
- Collection page grid.
- Catalog page grid.
- Search results.
- Product recommendations.
- Complementary products.
- Recently viewed.
- 404 page featured products.
Recommendations
- Match your photography. If your products are shot on portrait crops, pick Portrait. If they are shot square, pick Square. Mixing ratios in your photo workflow with the wrong card setting causes ugly white space or aggressive crops.
- Adapt to image is rarely the right choice for a polished store — varying card heights break the visual rhythm of grids. Use it only if you have intentionally varied photography styles.
- Square is the safest default for a mixed catalog.
- Portrait is the editorial-fashion default — Pave is designed with this option in mind.
Note on collection-card images
The Collection list section has its own Image ratio setting that overrides this one for collection cards specifically. Product cards everywhere else follow this setting.
